2006 Cerro Prieto Paso Bordo
85% Cabernet Sauvignon/15% Syrah
A full-bodied Bordeaux/ Rhone blend, this estate reserve wine is complex with ripe plum, cassis, blueberry, chocolate and subtle oak flavors, housed in firm tannins. There is a hint of the dry, briary chaparral characteristic of Paso Robles. 15.3% alc.
Wine Enthusiast: 92 pts
Tasted in late winter, this blend of Cabernet (85%) and Syrah (15%) was fruity and chocolaty, with a pastry sweetness that was a bit simple. But, by early summer, it had aquired greater depth and balance, and seemed drier and better structured. Shows real charm and finesse. Drink now-2010. -- Steve Heimoff

The Merlot and the Bordo Blend are off the charts. I give them both a mid-90 point spread. These wines are typical Paso, in the sense that they are full-bodied and full of big flavor. You can drink now or hold for 10 years. Either way you will be impressed with the fruit forward, smooth tannin wines. I still dream of tasting them. This is a small production winery, so you need to order a case to store now.
